P2P IP Block Lists |

BISS P2P IP Block ListsIt's a fact that most, if not all P2P networks are very heavily monitored by various copyright enforcers such as BayTSP and MediaSentry, and flooded with such things like fake decoy files, virus and trojan infected files, corrupted files and other assorted garbage to try and intentionally poison these networks. In an attempt to help clean up the P2P networks from such diseases by putting up a IP blocking buffer layer against them, there are Block Lists available from BlocklistPro to try and keep P2P users a little safer from these types of threats. Level 1 Block ListThe Level 1 blocklist is a block list containing the highest level of "percieved" threats, most suited for protection against Anti-P2P threats. The IP address entries in level 1 have been selected as the most important IP addresses needed to be blocked for their related privacy and security concerns. The majority of IP addresses on this list are static and belong to companies who rarely change IP addresses. Whenever changes are detected or new ranges are acquired, these lists of IP ranges are modified accordingly.
Some users may also find the Level 2 corporate blocklist useful for further restricting unwanted connections from non residential users. Bad Peers Block ListAnother block list called the Bad Peers Blocklist contains IP addresses reported by P2P users for such things as corrupt data and virus/trojan infected files. The Level 1 block list, Level 2 Corp block list and Bad Peers block list can be download freely from the BlocklistPro Download center. IP Filter Block List CompilationsFor a higher level of protection we also have compiled two Blocklist packages containing the majority of all our block lists merged into one file. This was done for greater convenience for end users, removing the need for a user to download each of the available blocklist files individually and then merging them all together before being able to be used with their IP blocking application.. We will do all this for you, although these pre-packaged lists are not updated as often compared to the daily updates you will find through the Blocklist Manager or BISS forums members only config page. These higher level block lists are known as the Normal (NIPfilter | SPlist) and Paranoid (PIPfilter.dat | PSPList) blocklist, available in two different formats. The two IPfilter.dat block lists [PIP filter.dat | NIP filter.dat) are DONK formatted block lists intended for use with the Emule application. The SP / PSP block lists are in the standard Protowall/Peerguardian V1 format which is compatible with other IP blocking / IP filtering capable applications such as the Safepeer Plugin for Azureus and it's new incarnation Vuze. BOGONS Block listBOGON ranges are IP ranges which are unassigned, have no owner and are currently allocated to no one. However BOGON IP's are often seen on P2P networks being used in the distribution of fake files as these type of IP address help make identification of the true source very difficult if not impossible to track down. BOGON ranges can change their status very often so please use this block list with caution and update it regularly to avoid filtering out genuine sources. For more indepth information about the actual contents of each of these blocklists please visit the BISS IP filters sources list FAQ and the main BISS IP Blocklist FAQ. Please note: We can never guarantee total 100% protection of any kind nor have we ever tried to make that claim, despite what others may say to the contrary or mistakenly presume. Some forms of P2P such as BitTorrent, especially through public sites, may put you at much greater risk depending on your country's laws, due to BitTorrent's lack of any kind of privacy or protection against the possibilty of being identified. You should always take great care not to put yourself at risk by engaging in any kind of illegal activities and always keep your block lists up to date. |
